Risin' up, back on the street Did my time, took my chances

First shoes!
I took Georgie and James to get some sandals - it's been so hot up here G's feet must be melting in her "snakers", and unlike SuperGirl I don't think the Boy Wonder actually likes walking round with bare feet, although he doesn't seem to like his 'pre-walker' shoes either so I thought I'd take a gamble with some sandals.
It was funny. Georgie sat up on the bench and tried on several pairs (we go to a specific shoe shop now, in Hornsby, as the lady does a good job fitting the kids and she also helps me to get G to buy the pair I want her to, that is really helpful) and came out with an interesting pair and certainly not the ones she originally wanted. But none the less, she's very happy with them, which is what counts as it's the only way she'll wear them. Back to the story. So Georgie tried on all her shoes and then it was Jamie's turn. He'd been jumping all over the bench (which is up on a platform about a metre off the ground) and I didn't think he'd actually tolerate the shoes at all. He squiggled while his foot was measured, but Georgie told him all about what had to happen and how he had to have his foot measured etc etc (imagine just a constant stream of blah blah blah coming out of her mouth to him, seeing as she was an expert at buying shoes *cough cough*) so when the lady put the first sandal on he was sort of interested in what she was doing and when she went to walk away to get the second one he actually stuck up his other foot and waved it at her. It was really cute.
So we popped him on the floor to see how he'd go in shoes - there is some debate about how long kids should be walking/how well they should be walking etc before they get a solid pair of shoes, but he just took off with a great big smile on his face.
Not once did he fuss over his shoes, or even try to take them off... I think he realised he was just like everyone else now, with his own little shoes now and that he would be able to go more places with shoes on. So he was happy to wear them all day and told Daddy about them later.
He even sat at the front door to put his shoes on this morning when G was shoeing up to go to Kindy (Dan was taking her and Jamie was staying home with me).
So the shoes are a success! yay. Go shoes.

By the way, he's not falling over, wobbly or with out balance in any of these photos, in fact it's more likely to be me experiencing all that - trying to get in front of him for a photo! Shoes make you go faster.
