We decided to take a trip to Melbourne while we were staying down at the farm - yep, way back in January.
Dan did lots of research into finding a motel with a swimming pool that was close to everything. The kids love to stay in motels, but a motel with a pool is heaven as far as they are concerned.
Anyway, he found one very close to Lygon street (I think it might have been Swanston St, but anyway, it was very central) that was pretty well priced for adjoining rooms and had a pool.
Yes, well, on paper it was great.
In real life the room smelt like curry and the beds were slightly dodgy too.
Ok, we could live with that, the kids just wanted to get to the pool. So we went straight up.
*Queue dramatic music here*
The pool was green! What?
Yep, behind that big rusty bowl is the green pool. Promised to be cleaned within 24 hours, but in reality not cleaned until after we've left.
We think it was green due to rain they'd had combined with the New Years Eve party they probably held up there.
The kids were devastated and Dan went off to do the complaining thing.
Thankfully they had a spa we could use so it wasn't all bad news.

I did get in - just didn't want to get my camera wet.

Later that night we went out for dinner - which was more difficult than you imagine considering the restaurants on Lygon Street really weren't reopening after their New Year break until after we'd left Melbourne.
Anyway, we did find a place selling the yummiest gelato.
G loves gelato.
(G wore this little jacket Granma made her everywhere in Melbourne, it was a bit of a godsend for someone who is constantly complaining she's cold when it's 30+ degrees.)
Yummmm.
