Daniel is often in the US for my birthday - it can't be helped, they run on a calendar year and the beginning of the year is their 'kick off', so he was enjoying freezing temperatures in Colorado Springs while we were in extreme fire conditions in Victoria.
In the mean time Mum, Dad and the kids were looking after me.
We went up to the restaurant at La Trobe uni for dinner.
The kids were very well behaved - which is not completely unusual, but nice none the less.
As we were walking back to the car the kids were interested in the buildings and surroundings - Gi was fascinated by the feet on this pot.
And here they are striking a pose in front of the admin building.
Georgie was treating the path as her very own catwalk. :o)
And later, when we got home, I got my very own birthday performance.
Complete with costume changes.....
...and excited little dance partners.
Mum and the kids had worked hard making some gluten free cupcakes as my birthday cake (my choice)
and the kids were very protective of this plate of cakes.
Each cake had been nominated to a person - whether that was the cake you wanted or not! There were certain cakes that caused a lot of squealing if you went to pick them up, but in the end everybody got something.
And the kids were very happy at the number of cakes left over.
