oh yeah, itchya birthday, go baby, go baby

So Saturday was the B I G day. Actually it was a Naming Day and birthday celebration all in one, but more on that later.

The house was pretty full. Granma, Granddad and Great Granny had arrived Friday night and Uncle Tim was due on Saturday to stay Saturday night.

The kids were happy, there's nothing like a house full of people to keep you happy.

Although, because they knew something was going on they were a bit highly strung.

James was much better on Saturday morning and his perky little face woke up at about 7am, shortly before his sister arrived upstairs ready to start partying the day away.

They had a play with Granma and Granddad -whose air bed was slowly deflating, which is apparently all the better for jumping on when Granddad is lying on it.

The party was set for the afternoon and the cake still had to be iced and quite a few other things done before then... you know, all the party stuff you stupidly leave until the last minute and promise yourself that you won't do that again next year???????

But more importantly, there were some presents to be opened. James (loosely phrased there and you'll see why) opened the presents from Georgie, Dan and me in the morning, and saved the others until the party.

Georgie fully understood it was Jamie's birthday, but a little brother surely needs a big sister to help open presents, after all it was his *first* birthday and he would have no experience in the matter. But it really was the funniest when he lost interest in opening a present and she took the responsibility of opening it for him - like he was out of his head for not wanting to open presents.

He was keen to take direction from her and was happy that she was happy.

It took him a while to get the whole paper ripping thing.

They both liked all the presents. In fact Georgie has nearly worn some of them out.

Here they both are at the Little People Racing Car Track. He likes chewing it all, and pulling the cars off while they're racing around and she likes making all the noise and getting it going for him. She often sits for ages, while he's asleep, performing all the "pit operations" on the cars.

Yes well, the battery packet did keep him happy for quite a while.

Georgie gave him this shape hammering present.

While he's busy with the new Wiggles cd she's making headway on the pile of presents to be opened.

Co-operation.

this one even tastes better than the batteries.

It's hard work, but if big sisters don't look after little brothers, especially on their birthdays, who will?

The cake... isn't Granma clever. Ok so I found the picture on the net, but she turned it into the cake design.

It was a Birthday/Naming Day cake.

(The usual sponge and a lot of white icing so G didn't go crazy with food colouring.)
