One weekend we made the trip out to Blacktown (in Sydney) to visit Featherdale Wildlife Park.
Georgie had been previously on a school excursion and enjoyed it. She talked about it regularly so we thought we'd take both of them. They loved it.
Featherdale is not as big as Taronga Zoo so it was easier to see everything and still get before Little Mister got too tired. Also, the kids love the Australian animal part at The Zoo so with Featherdale being almost all Aussie wildlife it was perfect.
What was perfect too was that you could buy food and feed the already stuffed kangaroos, wallabies and emus.
Cute little things aren't they. Just look at those vicious claws though!

G loved interacting with everything and for a girl who doesn't sit still Featherdale was perfect.
Look at this little Kookaburra.
Little Miss even got brave enough to pat it. Personally I think all the animals are brave to put up with all the children getting so excited over them!

The animal food comes in icecream cones so if you actually find a hungry animal they eat it all!
A nice big fat hairy nosed wombat.
We watched and fed the echidnas later in the day. Gi got to touch their spikes and find out that they're made from the same thing as our fingernails.
Not quite a native but because Granma and Ganddad have peacocks they were interested in this white one.
Ahh the emus. They're always hungry and always a little scary if you ask me.
To see this big pointy beak coming bearing down on you...
... with those beady eyes.....
.... I think everyone who's met an emu when they were a kid has a scary emu story to tell - or maybe it's just me.

This was the day my big camera lens decided it didn't want to talk to my camera body any more. :o( Taking photos was very hard as I had to keep resetting my camera.
I must get around to fixing it.
