One of the things Dan really really wanted to do was visit Capital Hill.

I have no idea what this is, but it was nice to see some red bricks in amongst all that white.
Looks very palatial doesn't it?
We had to go through a search when we went in, as you'd expect, but they seemed more interested in what food we were carrying than anything else.
They found a nut bar at the top of my backpack which got confiscated, but later I found a layer of food on the bottom of the bag which they didn't get to once they got to the nut bar!
Anyway, it was a bit weird to go through this search for food as once you got inside you could go buy food at the shops in there.
We really expected to be given the tour of the actual place where Parliament takes place.
But instead we were just shown round rooms with artwork.
This one is a painting that looks three dimensional.
We saw quite a few rooms with statues in them. The statues didn't mean much to us, and then it was all over. A bit disappointing really.
We found lots of things ironic and worth a smirk or too on this tour - especially during the film that we watched where they talked about a nation of freedom and how this building stood for that, but the building was built by the slaves.
