We've waited a l..o...n...g time for these Johnny Jump-ups to show their pretty faces. They started as seeds that Granma planted with her months ago.
When we were at the nursery and I pointed out the heartsies there she quickly turned around to me and said 'they're also called Johnny Jump-ups'. See Granma, you weren't talking to a brick wall.
The flowers G picks out that nursery are always red. Most the time quite bright red. She seems to especially like red flowers with yellow centres.
These beautiful little ones come up every year in our garden. In fact before our extension our gardens were full of bluebells. We can still see them trying to come up but the extension has meant moving things round in the garden and now the dog kennel is covering a big patch. You've got to give it to the bluebells though, they are still trying to come up.
I also had lots of bluebells down the side of the driveway... but someone thought it would be a good idea to put all the spare dirt down the side of my driveway on top of my bluebells and parsley.
One week later the daisy bush is sporting many more flowers... very good for the chief flower picker! We also planted lavender in the front garden under the roses and it's doing really well. G likes both edible and very fragrant garden inhabitants.
When Dan gets some spare time *cough cough* we're looking forward to him building us a raised vegie garden.
