We took the guided tour.
And our tour guide pointed out an old pipe to us - it's over there, at the back of him, can you see it? It's left over from the time when the Chinese were mining the area for gold (the area was known as Chinaman's Flat).
Take the scrub off the mounds and it would be just as they left it, all the good soil gone, all the crap left there.
Just big piles of tailings here and there.
The tour guide even pointed out this great big wombat hole.
Keeping the kids out of it was another challenge.
