Floriade

I know how much you'd all enjoy my 200 photos from Floriade (ok so I culled a few, there's about 180 I think) but alas I have only 36 to share with you.
Still too florally for you? Well there's actually only 23 really flowery ones.
It was a great day. We'd anticipated it being only about 23 degrees in Canberra but it turned out to be quite a deal warmer and very very sunny.

Floriade this year was something to do with movies... you can tell how much attention I paid to it ;o) It was actually difficult to see some of the displays, well the intended design, with out being able to get an overhead view. But as you'll see the flowers were stunning.

Georgie was funny. Both kids love staying in motels, Georgie thinks it's a wonderful holiday to go to a motel, but this is her idea of what should have happened -

1. get in the car and drive to the motel (watching new Hi 5 dvd on the way... Hi 5 because that's the only thing that keeps Jamie quiet)
2. get to motel, eat food, play in all rooms, have a bath and use as many towels and little soaps and shower hats etc as possible. Eat anything free in the mini kitchen/fridge.
3. watch tv
4. stay up late, sleep, wake up early and be very excited
5. eat picnic breakfast Mum has brought along
6. get dressed, pack up, pack the car coming in and out of motel room as many times as possible
7. once packing is finished get in car and go shopping, eat, shop, eat, shop, eat, shop till you're exhausted or there are no more shops left to look at
8. get back in the car and drive back to Sydney

She couldn't really figure out how the flowers fit into her plan of the holiday weekend and just really wanted to go on the expensive rides.
She does like flowers though and was very patient with me looking at them all, after all it was hot and there were thousands of flowers.

All right... enough of the jibber jabber - on with the photos.



I hired a backpack for James.

Eventually he worked out it wasn't a bad way to travel. Unfortunately it didn't come with a hood and keeping a hat on him is close to impossible so he eventually ended up back in the pusher.






These little 'caravans' were dotted over Floriade, they were also for sale - about $2k each.

There you go, affordable housing in Canberra.


A couple of the caravans were open and all the kids took the opportunity to play in them.


The gnomes were back again this year... with a film theme.
