St John pt 1

My pre-New Year's Resolution is to actually get all my photos edited and posted for 2010. :o)
I got past April but got stuck in May.

In May we went to The Virgin Islands. The US Virgin Islands.
We didn't get to take the kids, they stayed at home and Granma kindly looked after them for us. The trip was a work function, as you'll soon see. :o)

It was a looooooooooong trip to get there. Something like 30 hours. The last bit was done by boat.
We were sort of imagining tropical paradise, but actually there was quite a bit of scrubby rock.

And here we are...
Ok, well here are the boys Chris and Dan walking up from the private jetty into the hotel.


A quick look round the hotel... this path leads up to the main reception, you can catch a bus/taxi into the little town of St John.
and looking down in the other direction..

This is what town looks like, or part of it.
We had a very nice dinner the first night. We came into town and found a little restaurant in the back of the shops (there are quite a few restaurants, it's a captive audience really) - our waitress was an expat and very nice.
As you can imagine though, nothing is cheap on this island!
