Oh no here it comes again

When you get to a certain age photos of yourself are far more flattering in the dark.
This day I'd reached that certain age.
And look here, dark lighting and you'd never guess right?
Ahhh! turn the lights off again.

I had a very nice day. We went down to Eurora to look at first edition fibres.
We had a nice lunch - here's James sharing some chips.
We stopped in a second hand bookshop and the kids had fun shopping.

And here's Mum at First Edition.
I didn't buy that much - I'm not a spinner, more a knitter/crocheter, but it was still enjoyable.

Cross Country - otherwise known as Chasing the Bilby

It was Cross Country at school the other day.
Georgie is in Blaxland - Yellow (yep, Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth, original hey?).
It was quite cute, although I'm not sure she actually knew what she should be doing.

See the man dressed in black with the ears and the tail? That's Mr Champion - Scripture teacher to the older kids, and apparently all round good guy, not to mention hugely popular (well you would be with a name like Champion wouldn't you?).
Mr Champion is dressed like a Bilby - well we are Australian and a rabbit just wouldn't do!

The Kindy kids have to chase the Bilby for their race.
The Bilby got a big head start, those kids can be fast. And although he sold himself as unfit, Mr Champion did a good job of keeping well in front of them.
That's Georgie second from the end, scratching more mozzie bights (well we are in Australia aren't we?)

Run kids run! Parents are screaming furiously at the kids now.


Georgie started well, and then decided she'd better drop back to be with her friends.
She has no 'killer instinct' she's the first, not the second, she doesn't really have to fight for anything. She's more concerned that if it would make someone else happy to win, well they should win, everyone should be happy and it's her job to try and make them all happy.
She found time to slow down and wave to me as she ran past.. with me screaming 'hurry up' (much like what can be heard coming out of my mouth any time she's supposed to be doing something) she got a bit of a wiggle on.

And like all good Kindy kids, they don't run across the line, they line up when they get to it. :o)
She didn't win, or get a place, but that's ok, she's quite young.
She did get up with the House Captains and do a lot of cheering after that. She loves the spirit and comradery when they do sporting events in their house. (They get academic points in class too, which is good)
(oh and the dude in the black sunnies, he's the new grade 3 teacher... I still think he looks like a roadie, or straight out of the band. I did get told he does play in a band... Nice to have a male teacher on board. Kids seem to like him.)
